Print Lab

The Print Lab turns any documented hook into measurement-grade printouts. Everything prints at exact physical scale — silhouettes are never shrunk to fit the page, and every sheet carries a 2″/50 mm calibration bar so you can confirm the scale against a ruler. When you print, choose “Actual size” / 100% (not “Fit to page”) in your browser’s print dialog.

The basic flow

1. Search for a hook by name, manufacturer, or model.
2. Choose an export type and adjust its options.
3. Check the live preview on the right, then Print / Save PDF — or use Download PNG, Copy image, Copy link, or Sizes CSV.

Toggle mm / in any time to switch the grid and all measurements between millimetres and inches. Hooks without recorded measurements can’t be printed to scale and are flagged in the search results.

Export types

Size-run chart

A ladder of one hook across several sizes, printed true-scale on the measurement grid. Set how many Hooks on chart and the Step per hook (%); the run is centred on your starting size and snaps to real documented sizes where they line up. Optionally list the measurements beside each hook. Best for seeing how a pattern grows across its size range.

Spec card

A single-page reference card for one hook: the silhouette at actual size, an optional specimen photo, the full attribute table (bend, eye, wire, point, finish, origin, era…), every documented size, and a QR code linking back to the hook’s page. Best for a printed catalog or a card to file with the hooks.

Comparison sheet (2–4 hooks)

Puts 2–4 hooks side by side at true scale. Add each hook from the search box and pick a size for it. Overlay panel superimposes them all on one grid (each a different colour); Individual rows gives each its own grid. Includes a measurement difference table. Best for choosing between similar patterns.

Collection labels — size set

Printable labels/cards for organizing a physical collection. Queue up to 12 hooks, choose a Card size (bag inserts, index cards in either orientation, or small drawer strips), pick Which sizes to include and how many Copies per size. Each card shows the silhouette, identity, measurements, and a QR code. Sizes too large for the chosen card are skipped and named rather than shrunk.

Annotated measurement sheet

The hook’s real artwork with dimension callouts (overall length, shank, gap, wire) drawn from its traced centerline, at a Hook zoom of 100–400%. Available only for hooks that have structure data. Best for a detailed measured diagram.

The extra output buttons

Download PNG / Copy image save the current figure as an image (choose 150 or 300 dpi), decorated with a title band and QR credit. Copy link gives a shareable URL that reopens the Print Lab with the same hooks, sizes, and export type. Sizes CSV exports every documented size and measurement for the selected hook as a spreadsheet.

Clearing hooks

In the comparison and collection-labels modes, Clear hooks — start a new batch removes all queued hooks at once so you don’t have to deselect them one by one. Your options (export type, card size, sizes, copies, orientation, units) stay put — only the hooks are cleared.
