Ron Reinhold started making hooks in 1993. Over the years Ron built custom tools to do everything from straighten the wire, cut the barbs, and bend the wire. With the tools and processes he was able to offer many hook styles and options for modern day handmade hooks. His process delivered a consistent hook for the discerning fly tyer.

Ronn Lucas, Sr. purchased the business in 2006. He spent a week with Reinhold learning the hook making trade. Reinhold shipped all of the equipment to Oregon and Lucas setup shop in his garage. Lucas tweaked the processes a little that worked with his style and also added to the hook styles that were offered. He spent the next 16 years providing some of the highest quality hooks to the classic salmon fly tyer.

Garren Wood purchased the business in 2022 after Lucas was diagnosed with cancer and was looking to pass along the hook making tradition. Garren spent many weekends during the summer of 2022 learning from Lucas. In order to accommodate the hook making tools, Garren had a shop built in his back yard.

My plan is to provide many types of hooks from Reinhold, Lucas, and others, alongside my hooks. If you don’t see what you are looking for in the online store, please contact me through the online contact form to inquire about a custom order.
