Summary

The Mustad 9485 is a single fly hook from O. Mustad & Sön, sold under the name Mustad-Viking Hooks. The box label sets out its point, wire, offset, eye, and finish in abbreviated form P.

This record documents two boxes, size 6 and size 10, with loose hooks from each photographed on a measuring grid. The size 6 hooks are the larger of the two, because the numbered scale runs inverse to hook size.

How to identify it

Look for Qual. 9485 in the right-hand text block of the box label. A key device marked Key and Brand sits at upper left. The hook name Mustad-Viking Hooks is printed in red, and the rest in gold P.

The lower lines read Forged Reversed, then an eye and finish line. That line takes two forms on the recorded boxes: T. d. tapered eye Bronz… on the size 10 box, and t. d. tap. eye, bronz… on the size 6 box P.

The label terms follow Mustad’s abbreviated style. Hollow Point names the point grind, in which the outer edge of the point curves up to the tip rather than running straight. Forged means the wire was flattened sideways by pressing, which widens the face of the bend.

T. d. stands for turned down, the eye angle seen on the hooks P. Tapered eye means the wire thins where it forms the eye loop. Bronzed is the finish named on both labels.

Collecting and buying

4.5 / 10CollectabilityRarity: Uncommon

Rated 4.5/10, in the uncommon band, as a boxed Mustad production model with no documented scarcity. The rating is provisional, because no survival count, catalog listing, or sold result has been recorded.

Collectors identify the 9485 by its box label, which carries both the model number and the full specification. This record documents two labeled boxes, sizes 6 and 10.

No recorded evidence shows that any size or packaging is harder to find than another.

Market value

Insufficient recorded sales data to estimate a reliable value.

0 sold observations recorded; 2 are needed, with the basis and date of the range, before a value is shown. Asking prices are shown as asking prices only.

No sold results for this model are recorded here. A sales-based value range needs at least two recorded sold results.
