IMG-1Daiichi — New entry — image 1 Size 16 box lid. Pen marks cover the printed quantity, and handwriting sits beside the model number and at lower right (P).
2How to identify it
On the size 16 box documented here, the lid label shows the DAIICHI wordmark in a ruled rectangle with HIGH CARBON FISHING HOOKS in red beneath it P. The model number and size appear on separate lines below, and MADE IN JAPAN sits at the lower right P.
On the hook, look for a plain straight shank, a small ring eye turned down toward the point, a round bend and a bronze color P. A barb is present P.
Handwriting and pen marks on the lid are not part of the printed label. The first digit of the printed quantity is covered by ink, so the box does not give a readable count P.
Glossy, brownish gold-bronze color over the whole hook P. Current dealer listings give a bronze finish V.
OBS-8SRC-1
The shank is straight and plain, with no ridges, kinks or baitholder cuts P. Dealers list it as 2X long V. A 2X-long shank is about as long as the shank of a hook two sizes larger. The shank proportion read from the traced silhouette fits the 2X-long group I.
The point is long, straight and finely tapered P. One dealer describes Daiichi points as 12-degree constant-taper ground needle points V. Whether this specimen’s point matches that description is not established.
Dealers list 1X-heavy wire V. The traced silhouette puts the wire thickness nearest the extra-heavy group I. One dealer calls the hook forged V, a term for wire hammered flat in part. A flat side view cannot show the wire cross-section or any offset of the point.
Straight and undistorted with the point intact. No rust or corrosion is visible in the side view (P). A few tiny pale-yellow specks sit on the upper shank near the eye (P).
