2How to identify it
On the photographed label, the model code 993 R L sits in the right-hand block under the word QUALITY, followed by the 6X LONG and 1X STRONG lines P. The left-hand block holds the bend name and a rustproof line. A boxed device with no lettering sits at the center P.
The printing is red on cream paper. The heavy lines have a speckled, uneven fill, and the Hemming and location lines are much lighter. A violet numeral beside N° is applied separately from the red printing and reads 2 on this label P.
The photographed size 2 hook is a single hook with a plain, straight shank of even thickness P. The point is straight and tapered, ending in a sharp tip P. One side view cannot show whether the wire is round or flattened in section, and it cannot show whether the point is offset.
Measured on the traced silhouette of the photographed hook, the bend position is nearest the Carlisle family, the shank proportion is nearest Extra-Extra Long, and the wire thickness is nearest Standard I. The label’s own designations are 6X LONG and 1X STRONG.
Undamaged: shank straight, bend and point intact. A few tiny dark specks sit on the upper edge of the shank; dust and surface pitting cannot be told apart (P).
